The American College of Cardiology requests nominations for the 2011 Douglas P. Zipes Distinguished Young Scientist Award. The purpose of this award is to recognize a young scientist who has made outstanding contributions to the field of cardiovascular disease and who has amassed an impressive body of scientific research in either the clinical or basic domain. Last year, this award honored David E. Lanfear, M.D., F.A.C.C., from Henry Ford Hospital.
Nominees must be no more than 5 years out of training from an accredited U.S. institution or comparable international training program. The recipient will be invited to present his or her scientific work at the 2011 Scientific Session of the College, in New Orleans, April 3-5. He or she will also be recognized at the annual Convocation of the College and receive a monetary prize of $1,000. Travel, housing and registration expenses to attend the ACC Scientific Session will also be provided.
To submit a nomination, the followings must be received by July 31. 2010:
A nominating letter summarizing the curriculum vitae, highlighting those accomplishments that are relevant to the award
Three supporting letters
Nominee’s CV
Nominee’s list of top 10 (ten) publications
Description of nominee’s research interests and professional experience.
